HTSMUN is committed to a safe, respectful, and academically honest conference for every delegate, advisor, and guest. These are the standards we hold everyone to — and the support we provide when you need it.
At HTSMUN, every delegate represents their school. We ask everyone to bring respect, professionalism, and good faith to every session.
Model UN works because delegates take it seriously — debating ideas vigorously while treating one another with courtesy. Throughout the day we expect delegates to be respectful to dais staff, fellow delegates, school staff, and the Holy Trinity School community; to participate honestly and in the spirit of diplomacy; and to follow the directions of their committee’s dais and conference staff.
Disruptive, dishonest, or disrespectful behaviour is not tolerated. This includes harassment, discrimination, plagiarism, dishonesty in debate, damage to property, and any conduct that disrupts a committee or the conference. Delegates are also guests of Holy Trinity School and are expected to respect the venue and its facilities.
When a concern arises, HTSMUN’s approach is to respond proportionately. Most issues are resolved with a quiet word from the dais. Where behaviour continues or is more serious, the following consequences ladder applies — and at any stage, a delegate’s faculty advisor and school may be notified.
A private reminder from the dais about the expected standard of conduct, with a chance to correct course.
If the behaviour continues, the delegate may be asked to step out of the committee session for a period.
Conduct that breaches these standards can make a delegate ineligible for any HTSMUN award.
For serious or repeated breaches, a delegate may be removed from the conference. The advisor and school are notified.
Consequences are applied at the discretion of the dais and Secretariat, in proportion to the conduct.
HTSMUN is for every delegate. We want everyone in the room to feel safe, included, and able to do their best work.
HTSMUN welcomes all delegates regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or socioeconomic background. Diversity of background and viewpoint makes our committees stronger, and every delegate has an equal right to participate fully.
Harassment, discrimination, and bullying are strictly prohibited — in committee, in common areas, online, and anywhere connected to the conference. This includes slurs, demeaning comments, unwanted physical contact, intimidation, and singling someone out because of who they are. Debate the ideas, never the person.
If something happens to you or you witness it happening to someone else, please tell us. You will be taken seriously, and reports are handled discreetly.
You can raise a concern confidentially with any member of your committee’s dais or any conference staff member in person, or by email at any time. Reports are reviewed by the Secretariat and handled with discretion. We will work to address the situation and support anyone affected.
Speak to any dais member or HTSMUN staff member at the conference. They will help you or connect you with the Secretariat.
Write to info@htsmun.com. You can reach out before, during, or after the conference.
Organizer note: reports currently route to info@htsmun.com and the Secretariat. The team may choose to designate a dedicated equity contact closer to the conference; until then, the email above reaches the right people.
Your words should be your own. The skill HTSMUN rewards is your ability to research, think, and argue — not a machine’s.
Position papers and all in-committee work — speeches, working papers, draft resolutions, and amendments — must be the delegate’s own work. Plagiarism, whether copied from another delegate, a website, or any other source, undermines the spirit of the conference and results in award disqualification. Where you draw on sources, cite them.
HTSMUN takes a practical view of AI tools. You may use tools such as ChatGPT for background research and brainstorming before committee — getting oriented on a topic, understanding terminology, or exploring different angles, the same way you might use an encyclopedia or a search engine.
However, your speeches, position papers, working papers, and resolutions must be written in your own words. Submitting AI-generated content as your own work is not permitted, and is treated the same as any other form of plagiarism. The goal is simple: the analysis and writing the dais sees should genuinely be yours.
Use AI before committee to learn a topic, define terms, or explore perspectives — just like any other research tool.
Speeches, position papers, working papers, and resolutions must be your own words. AI-generated work submitted as your own is plagiarism.
Organizer note: this nuanced “research yes, submissions no” stance is the conventional MUN standard. The Secretariat can tighten or relax it — the wording here is written to be easily adjusted.
HTSMUN follows Western business attire — the professional standard of diplomacy. Dressing the part helps everyone take the day, and themselves, seriously.
We ask delegates to wear Western professional business attire for the conference. The dress code is gender-inclusive: wear what lets you present professionally and feel comfortable. There is no expectation tied to gender — choose from any of the options below.
Welcoming examples include:
Cultural and religious dress is warmly welcome and always counts as appropriate attire. If traditional or faith-based clothing is part of how you present yourself, please wear it with confidence.
The aim is simply to look professional and feel comfortable for a full day of committee. If you have a question about whether something fits the dress code, email info@htsmun.com and we’re happy to help.
We love capturing the energy of the day — and we respect anyone who would rather not be in the frame.
HTSMUN may photograph and record the conference for promotional and archival use — on our website, in recap materials, and on conference channels. These images help us share what HTSMUN is about with future delegates, schools, and advisors.
If you, your delegate, or your school would prefer not to be photographed, that is completely fine. Simply let a staff member know at the conference, or email us in advance, and we will do our best to accommodate the request.
Tell any staff member at the conference, or email info@htsmun.com beforehand, and we’ll work with you.
Every delegate should be able to take part fully. If there’s something we can do to make the day work for you, just ask.
HTSMUN is committed to running an accessible and inclusive conference. We know delegates come with a range of needs, and we would much rather hear from you early than have you navigate the day without support.
If you need accommodations — for mobility, dietary requirements, religious observance, sensory needs, or anything else — please contact us in advance. The more notice you can give, the better we can prepare; reach out and the team will work with you to find a solution.
Let us know about any mobility needs so we can plan room placement and routes around the venue with you.
Tell us about allergies, dietary restrictions, or observance needs in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements.
Quiet space, breaks, or other supports — whatever helps you participate, let us know and we’ll do our best.
Email info@htsmun.com in advance with your request, and we’ll follow up to confirm the details with you.
Faculty advisors and parents are welcome to reach out about any of these policies before registering. We’re happy to talk through conduct, safety, accommodations, or anything else you need for trip approval. Email us at info@htsmun.com.
